Gold and Blue undefeated at Walters Auto Classic

Men's Basketball

PIKEVILLE, Kentucky -- WVU Tech men's basketball went 2-0 during the Walters Auto Classic hosted by University of Pikeville Friday and Saturday after defeating Ohio University Lancaster 104-73 and Ohio University Chillicothe 96-67.

Tech is now enjoying a four-game winning streak and have moved to 5-1 this season.

The Golden Bears were led by senior Michael Scott, against Chillicothe, who finished with a double-double effort of 25 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Thomas Collins also marked a double-double with a game-best 15 boards to go with 13 points.

To round out Tech's top offensive contributors, sophomore Charles King poured in 18 points while junior Brent Daniels recorded 16 points and freshman Tamon Scruggs had 12 points.

Under the boards, Scruggs and Daniels had six rebounds each while junior Derrick Bass pulled down five.

Senior Cole Schoolcraft dished a game-high six assists towards the Gold and Blue's 16 total. Schoolcraft also had six points and three rebounds.

As a team, Tech finished 52.1 percent (37-for-71) from the floor while holding their opponent to 34.4 percent (22-for-64). The Golden Bears also outrebounded Chillicothe, 56-22.

Tech will next travel to Kingsport, Tennessee for the NAIA DII Showcase where they will face Union College (November 24) and Warner University (November 25).
