EAST BANK, West Virginia -- WVU Tech baseball split a doubleheader with University of Pikeville Sunday afternoon, 1-1. The Golden Bears (4-8) dropped game one 4-6 before defeating the Bears (9-5) in the night cap, 4-2.

The Golden Bears scored four in the third inning including a three-run homerun from freshman
Jacob Reimold but UPIKE answered back with a five-run fifth inning to earn the victory.
Reimold finished a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate to go with three RBI and a run scored.
Senior
Tanner Levine marked the other RBI off a fielder's choice to first base that scored senior
Alex Kotheimer. Kotheimer marked a double, a stolen base and a run scored in the loss.
Senior
Jarron Monroe (0-1) drew the start on the mound, putting in 4.1 innings of work for the loss. Monroe scattered four earned runs and three hits while striking out three batters.
Fellow classmate
Jayson Sykora threw for 2.2 innings, striking out three Bears while giving up three hits and zero earned runs.

Tech was trailing 2-1 until a three-run fifth inning gave them the edge and the eventual win, 4-2 over Pikeville.
Levine hit a single to left center to drive in junior
Abraham Alejandro for run two. Fellow classmate
Wyatt Belinda followed that with a double RBI that drove Levine in. The final score came from Belinda crossing the plate off a single from junior
Roland Eusebio.
Eusebio finished 2-for-3 with a run scored while Belinda had a RBI and run scored. Alejandro recorded two runs and a RBI. Levine marked a hit, run and RBI in the victory.

Chris Davidson had a steal each.
On the mound, junior
Jerod Jobst (2-0) pitched a complete game for the win. Jobst gave up just two hits and one earned run while striking out six batters.
Up next, the Gold and Blue will start River States Conference play when they host Cincinnati Christian University Friday and Saturday for a four-game series in East Bank, West Virginia.
