LAST SERIES
  • Completed the four-game River States Conference (RSC) Games of the Week series Saturday split, 1-1, with University of Rio Grande.
  • The Golden Bears and RedStorm now hold the same records in 2017, 16-15, 10-6 RSC, after scores of 4-8 and 3-0.
  • In the 3-0 victory for the Gold and Blue, redshirt-junior Garrison Vandeventer earned his sixth save of the season and is now tied for sixth in the nation (NAIA DI) for total saves in 2017.

    • The Golden Bears recorded their third shutout of the season in the final game of the series.
    • Tech's pitching allowed just four Rio hits given up by Davidson after 6.1 innings.
    • Davidson moves to 4-2 on the mound after the win, striking out four batters while giving up three earned runs.
    • Vandeventer threw for two outs after taking up relief with two runners on, walking one batter and striking out another.
    • Senior Doug Prather finished a perfect 3-for-3 at the dish towards his RBI while also marking a stolen base.
    • Levine had a home run to give him a RBI and run scored.
    • The run scored in the fifth was by pinch runner freshman Brandon West.
    • West took over for Rodriguez on the bases who reached by a single to left field.

LAST SERIES
  • WVU Tech softball is enjoying a three-game winning streak after sweeping RSC opponent Ohio Christian University in a doubleheader.
  • The Golden Bears (6-21, 3-1 RSC) took game one 9-1 after five innings before taking a 14-12 game two over the Trailblazers (2-12, 0-4 RSC).
  • Tech split a doubleheader at Cincinnati Christian Friday with scores of 1-9 and 9-8.
  • Senior Genna Trippett knocked her fifth and sixth home runs of the season in the win, both bringing in two runs.
  • The Parkersburg, West Virginia native also hit a two-run long ball in the 14-12 victory over OCU.
  • Trippett (1-2) earned her first win in the circle after pitching a complete game one against the Trailblazers.
  • Freshman Karina Atanacio (5-7) picked up her fifth win after pitching for just one out in Tech's final game of the weekend.

LAST MEET
  • Led by sophomore Daniel Lynch's first place finish and NAIA National Outdoor qualifying mark in the men's shot put, the WVU Tech track and field teams participated in the Bobcat Invitational.
  • Lynch's toss of 15.25 meters secures him a spot at the national meet in May. Lynch also threw a massive personal best in the discus, placing third in 41.26 meters.
  • Greensage equaled his personal best in the hammer throw, placing third in 42.46 meters and was right behind Lynch in the discus, fourth in 39.55.
  • Two other throwers, sophomore Luke Jobson and freshman Earl Kosa placed fifth (37.46 meters) and sixth (37.62 meters) respectively in the javelin throw.
  • Not to be outdone, freshman Kieme Barr jumped to a fourth place finish in the long jump at 6.21 meters.
  • On the track, with the team experimenting a little in the non-scored meet, freshman Joseph De La Cruz raced to a second place finish in the 400 hurdles.
  • Freshman Hailey Couchman jumped to fourth place in the long jump while the women throwers continued major improvement.
  • Senior Brooke Gee placed in the top 5 in the discus, javelin and hammer, while freshman Jamie Fauver notched fourth in the hammer and fellow classmate Courtney Leadingham recorded a fifth in the shot put.

LAST TOURNAMENT
  • Finished second at the Shawnee State Spring Invitational after a two-day tournament held March 25-26 at the Elks Club Country Club (Par 72 | 6,701 yards) in McDermott, Ohio.
  • Tech, host school Shawnee State University, Ohio Christian University and Ohio State-Chillicothe played 36 holes in the tournament.
  • The Golden Bears were led by freshman Andres Echeveste who put together rounds of 78 and 72 to finish third overall in a field of 27 golfers.
  • Sophomore Makenzie Gaskin carded rounds of 78 and 77 to place fourth.
  • Sophomore Braden Keown combined for 158 (80 | 78) to place ninth while fellow sophomore Callum Langford shot 82 in the first round before shooting a 78 in the final 18 for T10th place.
  • Sophomore Drew Hiskins was 17th to round out the competitors for the Gold and Blue. Hiskins recorded a 172 over two days.
  • The Golden Bears combined for a team score of 623 (318 | 305).
