Golden Bears drop two at PFX Games

CLERMONT, Florida -- WVU Tech softball dropped two games during the PFX Games in Clermont, Florida Monday afternoon. The Golden Bears (1-12) fell to Grace College 6-3 before dropping a game to No. 7 Marian University 10-0 in five innings.

Senior Genna Trippett and sophomore Kaitlyn Sisler had a multi-hit game, recording two each out of Tech's seven hits. Trippett recorded a double while Sisler had a double and a RBI in the loss.

Sophomore Skylar Connelly, freshman Kayte Blandford and junior Kayla Jones had one hit each including a double from Jones.

Blandford and junior MaKayla Waugh also drove a run in each.

In the circle, freshman Sydney Smith (0-1) suffered the loss after 2.1 innings of work. Smith struck out one batter while giving up three hits and one earned run.

Fellow classmate Karina Atanacio drew the start, pitching 3.2 innings while scattering five hits and one earned run. Atanacio also retired one Lancer via strikes.

The Golden Bears had five hits in the night cap, one each from Trippett, junior Kayla Harbin, senior Adriana Rosendo and freshman Madeline Olson.

Senior Mackenzie Wilson (0-5) threw for 3.0 innings, giving up nine hits and six earned runs in the loss while Trippett pitched 2.0 innings, scattering four hits and three earned runs.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, Tech will take a break from the PFX Games to face Warner University in Lake Wales, Florida. The first pitch of the double header is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
