Softball falls in doubleheader at Warner University

LAKE WALES, Florida -- WVU Tech softball took a break from the PFX Games in Clermont, Florida to face Warner University in Lake Wales on Tuesday where they dropped a doubleheader.

The Golden Bears (1-14) fell in game one 9-0 (five innings) before dropping the final contest, 10-1 (five innings), to the Royals (5-5).

Game One | Warner 9, WVU Tech 0 (Five Innings)

Sophomore Skylar Connelly and freshman Karina Atanacio managed a hit each to make up both of Tech's hits.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Sisler (0-1) drew the start in the circle, giving up one earned run while walking a batter for the loss.

Atanacio pitched 3.0 innings, striking out a Royal while scattering six hits and five earned runs.

Senior Genna Trippett put in one inning of work, giving up just one hit and two earned runs.

Game Two | Warner 10, WVU Tech 1 (Five Innings)

Freshman Chelsey Adkins posted a double and scored Tech's lone run in the night cap.

Fellow classmate, Annika Ponton, finished a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate while senior Adriana Rosendo, junior MaKayla Waugh and Adkins had a hit each.

Senior Mackenzie Wilson (0-6) struck out one Royal in the loss while giving up seven hits and four earned runs after facing 23 batters.

The team will next face No. 3 Southeastern University tomorrow, Wednesday in a doubleheader. The first pitch in Lakeland, Florida is scheduled for 2 p.m.
