Tech earns seventh consecutive win against PSU Brandywine

VERO BEACH, Florida -- WVU Tech baseball is enjoying a seven-game winning streak after finishing 2-0 in Vero Beach, Florida during Spring Break action. The Golden Bears (10-8) defeated Grace College (5-8-1) after 11 innings, 13-8, before taking a game from Penn State Brandywine (2-13), 6-1.

Tech went 11 innings against Grace College Tuesday to come out on top after a five-run rally during their final three outs. A full box score for this game will be found at goldenbearathletics.com once it becomes available.

Junior Nick Brumfield (1-0) earned his first win on the mound in 2017 after pitching 5.0 innings against Penn State Brandywine. Brumfield struck out one batter while scattering four hits and one earned run.

Senior Marcus Rodriguez threw for 1.0 inning, retiring one Lion via strikes while giving up two hits and freshman Michael Rotenberry gave up just one hit in an inning of work.

Senior Chris Davidson went 3-for-3 Wednesday, knocking two doubles while recording two RBI and a run scored.

Fellow classmate Trevor Lam also had two doubles in the game and scored a run.

Senior Alex Kotheimer produced three hits including a triple while driving in two runs and crossing the plate once himself.

Junior Wyatt Belinda had two RBI on a hit and a sacrifice fly for the Golden Bears.

On the bases, Kotheimer (2), Lam and senior Doug Prather (2) marked steals.

As a team, Tech totaled ten hits with six RBI after 25 at bats.

The Gold and Blue will next face River States Conference foe Point Park University in a four-game series Friday-Saturday.

The first pitch in the neutral location, Mooresville, North Carolina, is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Friday, March 10.
