VERSAILLES, Kentucky -- WVU Tech baseball dropped a River States Conference (RSC) doubleheader to Midway University Saturday afternoon on Chandler Field in Versailles, Kentucky. The Golden Bears are now 16-19, 10-8 (RSC) in 2017 while the Eagles improve to 18-13, 15-3 (RSC).
Tech held the lead in both games until the bottom of the seventh when Midway picked up the victories with walk-off hits including a two-run home run and a single.

The teams were scoreless until a double from senior
Trevor Lam scored fellow classmate
Chris Davidson in the sixth inning for Tech's run.
The Eagles answered back with a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh from Hector Quinones to win the series opener.
Tech managed six hits including two each from Lam and senior
Tanner Levine who also posted a double.
Midway only tallied two hits against the pitching duo of junior
Jerod Jobst and redshirt-junior
Garrison Vandeventer.
Jobst drew the start, pitching 6.1 innings for the Golden Bears. The Dunbar, West Virginia native gave up just one hit while striking out seven batters.
Vandeventer (1-2-6) faced two batters for the loss, giving up one hit and two earned runs while walking one Eagle.

Pitching controlled the night cap as Tech was held to just a .087 batting average as a team and the Eagles hit just .150.
The Golden Bears' two hits were credited to seniors
Sebastian Gomez Herrera and
Brady Groesbeck who had one each.

Doug Prather recorded a stolen base in the loss.

Jayson Sykora (1-4) pitched a complete game in the loss, scattering three hits and zero earned runs while striking out five batters.
Midway's James Davenport also threw all seven innings, giving up just two hits while striking out 12 Golden Bears.
Tech will look to redeem the losses when they face the Eagles for another doubleheader tomorrow, Sunday in Versailles, Kentucky to complete the RSC four-game series.
