ONA, West Virginia -- WVU Tech softball split a doubleheader with River States Conference (RSC) foe Brescia University Sunday afternoon at Cabell Midland High School in Ona, West Virginia.
The Golden Bears (7-24, 4-4 RSC) recorded a season-high 15 hits in the 9-1 victory (six innings) in game one before falling 7-3 to the Bearcats (11-13, 5-3 RSC).
Senior
Mackenzie Wilson earned the series start, pitching a complete game for the win. Wilson struck out two Bearcats while giving up just one run.

Freshman
Chelsey Adkins led the squad with a 3-for-4 effort at the dish with two RBI and a run scored. Adkins also marked a double for Tech.

Kayla Harbin also had a multi-hit game, recording two each.
Senior
Genna Trippett reached base by balls three times and tallied a double towards her two runs scored.
The remaining RBI were credited to Connelly, Waugh, Harbin, Jones, senior
Lexi Huck and sophomore
Sarah Dohn.
On the bases, Waugh, Harbin and Jones (2) recorded stolen bases.

Connelly marked three hits and a run scored while Jones had two hits and crossed the plate once to lead the team in the night cap.
The final run was scored by Adkins who reached after getting hit by a pitch.
Trippett recorded the only RBI by the Golden Bears during the sixth inning when a single brought Jones in.
Freshman
Karina Atanacio drew the start, throwing for 4.1 innings while scattering five hits and two earned runs. Atanacio retired two Bearcats via strikes.
Fellow freshman
Sydney Smith pitched 2.0 innings for the loss, giving up three hits and three earned runs while striking out one batter.
The team will return to the field tomorrow, Monday when they host NCAA DII Alderson Broaddus University in Smithers, West Virginia. The first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
