PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania -- WVU Tech softball finished 3-1 in River States Conference (RSC) play after a four-game road trip to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Friday and Saturday where they faced Carlow University then Point Park University.
The Golden Bears (14-31, 10-7) defeated the Celtics (12-12-1, 3-9 RSC) 1-0 and 2-1 Friday before splitting with the Pioneers (18-17, 9-5 RSC) 0-5 and 3-0 Saturday.
The W against the Pioneers was huge as the Gold and Blue are now tied at No. 2 with Point Park in the RSC standings at five games back from the University of Rio Grande.

Mackenzie Wilson pitched for 4.2 innings in the loss, scattering seven hits and four earned runs while striking out one Pioneer.

Sydney Smith threw for 1.1 innings, striking out one batter while giving up two hits and one earned run.

Karina Atanacio pitched a complete game for the shutout victory, retiring four batters via strikes while giving up five hits and walking two Pioneers.

The team will take a break from conference play when they travel to Hammond, Indiana to face Purdue Northwest April 28 for two games.
