CHILLICOTHE, Ohio -- Pitching ruled WVU Tech baseball's first round game of the double-elimination River States Conference (RSC) Tournament as they were held to a team batting average of .161 and their opponent, No. 21 Indiana University Southeast, was held to .156. The Grenadiers (44-11) defeated the Golden Bears (28-27) with a 3-0 shutout in Chillicothe, Ohio Saturday afternoon.
Tech tallied five hits in the loss including one each from seniors

Doug Prather,
Tanner Levine,
Chris Davidson and junior
Wyatt Belinda. Kotheimer's knock was a two-bag hit which marked his ninth of the season.
Junior
Jerod Jobst drew the start on the bump, scattering four hits and two earned runs after eight innings. The Dunbar, West Virginia native struck out seven batters while walking two Grenadiers.
Fellow classmate
Dalton Grisell finished out the game, retiring one batter via strikes while giving up one hit.
IU Southeast's pitcher, Ryne Underwood, earned the win after a complete game. Underwood struck out five Golden Bears while giving up five hits in the shutout.
Tech entered the tournament as the No. 5 seed and will next face No. 6 Brescia University (13-37) tomorrow, Sunday at the VA Memorial Stadium.
The No. 2 seed IU Southeast will move on to face the winner of No. 3 University of Rio Grande (33-17-1) and No. 4 Midway University (24-27).
