CHILLICOTHE, Ohio -- Senior
Chris Davidson earned a complete game victory on the bump as WVU Tech baseball defeated Brescia University, 5-4, in their second game of the River States Conference (RSC) Tournament. The Golden Bears (29-27) will next face No. 3 University of Rio Grande tomorrow, Monday at 3 p.m.
Tech scored the final three runs of the elimination game to advance in the tournament starting in the bottom of the fourth when senior
Roland Eusebio hit a sacrifice fly to center which plated fellow classmate
Trevor Lam.
In the fifth inning, senior
Doug Prather knotted the game when he scored off a Brescia miscue. The winning and final run came in the sixth inning when senior
Alex Kotheimer flew out to center field for the sacrifice that drove junior
Abraham Alejandro in.
Davidson (8-2) put in the full nine innings of work for the Gold and Blue, striking out eight Bearcats while only walking one. He allowed ten hits and four earned runs.
Prather led the way at the plate and on the bases to help Tech take their comeback win. The Charleston, West Virginia native finished 2-for-2 with a triple, two walks, two runs and two stolen bases.
Fellow seniors
Tanner Levine and Lam also had multi-hit games, marking two each. Levine, who stole a base, drove in a run and scored once while Lam marked one of Tech's five runs.
Kotheimer recorded the winning RBI and a stolen base while freshman
Jacob Reimold had a double and a RBI.
