BECKLEY, West Virginia -- For the first time since at least 2007, WVU Tech (3-0) volleyball has won three consecutive matches to kick off the season including a win over Bluefield College (0-1), 3-1 Tuesday evening in Van Meter Gym. The Golden Bears took game one 25-11 before falling 23-25 in set two. Tech finished the match after 25-13 and 25-15 set four and five scores respectively.
Senior
Bailey Lotozo led the attack with a match- and season-high 17 kills. Lotozo also marked four digs and a block solo.
Freshman
Lauren McCall had a standout game, producing 13 kills, 11 digs, six service aces and a block solo. Sophomore
Ana Monteiro marked ten kills, seven digs, two service aces, a block solo and a block assist.
Sophomore
Konstantina Pateli dished out 48 sets to lead the match. Pateli also had five digs, two aces and two kills.
Freshman
Michaela Hall made a difference at the net, recording two block solos and a block assist. Hall also finished .700 (7-for-10) at the attack.
The Gold and Blue outserved their opponent, recording 13 service aces compared to one Rams' ace while also leading in kills (54-36), assists (52-35), blocks (7-4) and digs (42-37).
WVU Tech will look to extend their streak when they travel to Marietta, Ohio for the Marietta River City Classic September 1-2. Tech will face Thiel College, College of Mount St. Joseph, Hiram College and Oberlin College.
