MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- WVU Tech men's soccer earned their first victory and shutout in 2017 with a 3-0 win at Mount Vernon Nazarene University Wednesday afternoon. The Golden Bears move to 1-5-1 this season while the Cougars hold a record of 4-4.
The first goal was a MVSU own goal in minute ten. Sophomore
Sergio Sanchez posted the next score in the 58
th minute off the assist from junior
Matias Pazos. Sanchez followed up a blocked shot off of the Cougars' keeper to find the back of the net.

Manuel Garcia marked his first collegiate goal (90') when he found himself one-on-one with the keeper, firing to the far post for the goal. Garcia was assisted by fellow classmate
Eduardo Gutierrez.
Freshman goalkeeper
Jose Domingo Xam-mar (1-1) marked one save in 90 minutes of play for the shutout in goal.
The team will return to the pitch when they host No. 16 Georgia Gwinnett College on Saturday in Beckley, West Virginia for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
