BECKLEY, West Virginia -- The Golden Bear volleyball squad dropped a 3-1 River States Conference (RSC) match to Asbury University Friday evening in Van Meter Gym. WVU Tech now holds a record of 20-7, 4-4 (RSC) while the Eagles move to 14-9, 6-2 (RSC).
Tech fell 16-25 then 23-25 before taking set three 25-23. Asbury won the final set, 15-25.
Junior
Carolina Bologna led the attack with 11 kills while also producing three block assists and two block solos to go with three digs and an assist.
Fellow junior
Katelyn Byrd posted ten kills to go with nine digs, two assists, a block solo and a block assist. Freshman
Valentina Abondano recorded nine kills and had 12 digs, a service ace, a block assist and an assist.
Junior
Konstantina Pateli marked 38 assists and had a hitting percentage of .600 with a 4-for-5 effort. Pateli also tallied 12 digs and a service ace.
Sophomore libero
Sawyer Hawgood had a team-best 16 digs and a kill. Senior
Ana Monteiro, who had six kills and a block solo, also picked up eight digs.
Tech returns to the court tomorrow, Saturday when they host another RSC opponent, Midway University at 12 p.m. in Beckley.
