SALEM, West Virginia -- The women's swimming team of WVU Tech defeated Alderson Broaddus University, 109-68, and fell to the host school Salem University, 101-112, both NCAA DII opponents, Friday evening in Salem.
Tech recorded seven first place touches including three individual top finishes from
Mariana Loureiro. Mariana posted the best times in the 100 Breast (1:13.85), 100 Free (58.41) and the 200 IM (2:24.05). She also helped the 200 Medley Relay team of
Isabela Kiesewetter Zandavalli,
Mariara Loureiro and
Ana Carolina Loureiro to first place with a time of 1:59.46.
Mariara finished in the top spot in two events including the 200 Breast (2:42.06) and 200 Free (2:12.86). Zandavalli also touched first in two individual events, 200 Back (2:17.67) and 500 Free (5:39.90).
The Gold and Blue return to action November 3 when they travel to Emory, Virginia to face Emory & Henry and Milligan College.
