BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech men's soccer defeated River States Conference (RSC) opponent Cincinnati Christian University 3-0 with another shut out victory in 2018. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 10-0-4, 4-0-1 (RSC) while the Eagles move to 4-5, 1-4 (RSC).
Freshmen posted all three goals during the contest including two from
Jaime Rodriguez (36' and 39'). Rodriguez's first score came off a penalty kick while the assist for his second goal was credited to junior
Narhum Nivillac.
Fellow freshman
Ben Mawby recorded his first collegiate goal in the 24
th minute off the assist from Rodriguez.
The team finished with 20 shots, nine on frame while holding the Eagles to just six shots, three on goal.
Tech's net was protected by starter junior
Jose Domingo Xam-mar who made one stop in 24 minutes of play. Junior
Jorge Martinez finished the contest out, marking two saves.
The Gold and Blue will next travel to University of Rio Grande October 11 for more conference play.
