Moncayo posts hat trick in victory over Eagles

Women's Soccer

BECKLEY, West Virginia -- Sophomore Domenica Moncayo recorded a hat trick in the first half of the 4-0 River States Conference (RSC) victory over Cincinnati Christian University. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 6-4, 3-2 (RSC) while the Eagles move to 1-11, 1-4 (RSC).

Moncayo first struck in the seventh minute, finding the back of the net off an assist from fellow classmate Meghan Rugel. Junior Miriam Cortez was credited the assist when Moncayo marked her second goal in the 13th minute. The Cumbaya, Quito, Ecuador native posted her final goal of the evening off a free kick in minute 30.

Tech's final goal of the contest was provided by junior Maria Gonzalez who scored in minute 35 off the perfect pass from Moncayo.

Freshman Jenna Miller protected the goal for the complete game, making two stops and allowing zero goals for another shut out.

The Gold and Blue will next travel to University of Rio Grande October 11 for more conference play.
