BECKLEY, West Virginia -- The WVU Tech and Berkeley College men's basketball teams gave fans at the WVU Tech Classic a show and bonus basketball in the final game of the classic with a double overtime thriller. The Golden Bears fell to the Knights 121-117 and now hold a record of 3-1 while Berkeley moves to 2-0.
Tech was led by senior
Elisha Boone who posted a career- and game-best 40 points while pulling down a game-high 16 boards for the double-double. The Brooklyn, New York native finished 15-for-18 at the bonus line.
Sophomore
Junior Arrey poured in 33 points, also a career-high, to go with five steals, three assists and four rebounds. Junior
Tommy Collins marked 14 points while sophomore
Will Fox had 12 points to round out the top offensive contributors.
Sophomore
Tamon Scruggs recorded nine rebounds and seven points while fellow junior
Dominik King had five rebounds and five points.
Berkeley was led by Deylon Bovell who had 32 points and ten rebounds.
Tech will return to action Tuesday when they host University of Saint Francis for a GOLD RUSH in the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and fans are encouraged to wear gold and support the Golden Bears.
