Tech opens up at home with victory over Penn State Fayette

BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech men's basketball opened its home schedule with a 125-72 win over Penn State Fayette during the inaugural WVU Tech Classic at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center Friday evening. The No. 13 (NAIA) Golden Bears now have three consecutive wins and are 3-0 this season while the Nittany Lions move to 0-1.

Junior Dominik King was named the Player of the Game after pouring in a team-high 21 points to go with five rebounds, two assists and a steal.

The Gold and Blue also saw double-digits from sophomore Junior Arrey (19), seniors Tommy Collins (16), Brandon Shingles (12) and Elisha Boone (12) and sophomores Will Fox (10) and Andreas Jönsson (10).

Boone finished with a double-double effort after pulling down a game-best ten rebounds to go with two assists and a steal. Arrey had seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Freshman Isaiah Morgan recorded seven rebounds while junior Tamon Scruggs and freshman Corey Hatfield had four each.

Senior Cole Schoolcraft dished a team-high six assists while recording a steal and two points.

Penn State Fayette was led by Tavian Mozie who had a game-high 26 points.

As a team, Tech shot 51.2 percent (42-for-82) from the field while shooting 81.1 percent (30-for-37) from the bonus line. The Nittany Lions were held to 37.5 percent (21-for-56) from the field.

Tech forced 37 turnovers while grabbing 19 steals and committing just 16 turnovers themselves.

The WVU Tech Classic will conclude tomorrow, Saturday when University of Rio Grande faces Penn State Fayette at 1 p.m. followed by the Golden Bears versus Berekely College at approximately 3 p.m.
