LAWRENCEVILLE, Georgia -- WVU Tech softball opened their 2018 campaign competing at the Grizzly Classic hosted by Georgia Gwinnett College Saturday-Sunday. The Golden Bears finished 0-4 during the classic, falling to Bryan (0-1, 8 innings) before dropping three to No. 7 Georgia Gwinnett (0-8, 0-14, 0-8).
The Golden Bears managed five hits during the weekend including one each from senior
Kayla Harbin, sophomore
Annika Ponton, juniors
Kacie Cahill and
Skylar Connelly and freshman
Olivia Morey.
Connelly also marked a stolen base for the Gold and Blue.
In the circle, sophomore
Karina Atanacio struck out seven batters after eight innings pitched, giving up just five hits and zero earned runs.
Up next, Tech will travel to Hartsville, South Carolina for the Coker Spring Tournament where they will face Fairmont University, Shepherd University and Kings College February 24-25.
