RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- WVU Tech baseball (7-22, 3-9 RSC) picked up a 5-4 River States Conference (RSC) victory over (RV) University of Rio Grande (14-17, 8-4 RSC) Sunday afternoon.

Rio Grande took the series, 1-2, after defeating the Gold and Blue 2-5 and 0-6 Friday in Beckley, West Virginia.

Junior Juan Perez led the way at the plate for Tech, finishing 3-for-4 toward three RBI.

Fellow classmate Sean Crosby and freshman Bryton Dean also had a multi-hit game, posting two each.

Freshman Calen Owens, who was 1-for-2 Sunday, drove a run in.

Senior Jerod Jobst (1-4) earned his first win on the bump this season after throwing 7.0 innings. The Dunbar, West Virginia native struck out four batters while giving up just two earned runs and four hits.

Senior Wyatt Belinda (1-0-1) was awarded the save after 0.2 innings of work.

Redshirt senior Garrison Vandeventer also saw action on the mound, retiring two batters via strikes after throwing 1.2 innings.

Tech will take a break from conference play when they play host to Montreat College Tuesday for a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
