BECKLEY, West Virginia -- After 110 minutes of play, WVU Tech and Mount Vernon Nazarene University ended a double overtime contest scoreless, 0-0, Saturday evening in Beckley, West Virginia. The Golden Bears are still undefeated and move to 6-0-2 while the Cougars now hold a record of 4-2-1.
The Gold and Blue managed 13 shots on frame (21 shots) compared to Mount Vernon's zero shots on goal (three shots).
Tech was led in the shot attempt category by junior
Jesus Naves who tallied six shots (five on goal). Fellow classmate
Manuel Garcia followed Naves with four shots (three on frame).
The Golden Bear keepers, starter sophomore
Jose Domingo Xam-mar (45 minutes) and junior
Jorge Martinez (65 minutes), did not have to make a stop as the Cougars only posted three shots, none on goal.
Mount Vernon's keeper, Joshua Dunn, was forced to stop eight Gold and Blue attempts after 110 minutes of play.
Tech will continue play Wednesday, September 19 when they travel to Union College for a 7 p.m. kick off.
