BARBOURVILLE, Kentucky -- The Golden Bears played towards their third draw in 2018, staying undefeated after a 1-1 double overtime decision at Union College Wednesday evening. (RV) WVU Tech now holds a record of 6-0-3 while the Bulldogs move to 5-2-1.
Tech struck first when junior
Manuel Garcia found the back of the net in minute 44 off a free kick from 40 yards. Garcia finished with a game-best six shots on frame towards the team's 15. Freshman
Jaime Rodriguez recorded three shots on goal.
Union's goal was posted with seven minutes left to play in regulation off the foot of Justin Wilkinson. As a team, the Bulldogs finished with six shots on goal.
Junior keeper
Jose Domingo Xam-mar (6-0-3) stopped six Union attempts after 110 minutes of play. Filipe Barateiro protected the net for Union and was forced to make 14 saves after a complete game.
The Gold and Blue will begin River States Conference (RSC) play next when they host Indiana University East in Beckley, West Virginia Saturday.
