CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio -- WVU Tech volleyball took a 3-1 River States Conference (RSC) decision over Ohio Christian University Saturday afternoon with scores of 25-18, 20-25, 25-20 and 25-15. The Golden Bears boost their record to 19-5, 3-2 (RSC) while the Trailblazers move to 2-9, 1-3 (RSC).
The team had a standout showing from senior
Ana Monteiro who recorded 15 kills, 11 digs, two assists, two service aces and a block assists.
Freshman
Valentina Abondano also had a balanced match on offense and defense with 16 digs and 11 kills.
Junior
Katelyn Byrd was the final Golden Bear to post double-digits on the attack with ten kills to go with nine digs.
Once again, junior
Konstantina Pateli handled the ball for Tech towards 39 assists. The Athens, Greece native also picked up ten digs.
The Gold and Blue back row defense helped win the contest including a match-best 26 digs from sophomore libero
Sawyer Hawgood. Junior
Alice Amitrano marked 17 digs while fellow classmate
Carolina Bologna posted seven digs. Bologna also put down six kills.
Tech will continue RSC play when they host Carlow University in Beckley, West Virginia during Homecoming Friday, October 5.
