BECKLEY, West Virginia -- No. 12 WVU Tech defeated Alice Lloyd College 105-89 Tuesday evening in the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center. The River States Conference (RSC) victory boosts the Golden Bears' record to 16-3, 7-1 (RSC) while the Eagles move to 7-12, 2-7 (RSC).
The Tech squad currently sits at No 1 in the RSC East division with No. 17 Indiana University East (7-1). Point Park University (3-5) is next in line at 4.0 games back.
Junior
Brent Daniels' three-pointer with 19 seconds left to play gave Tech 105 points and the fans a free chicken sandwich courtesy of Chick-Fil-A Beckley. Chick-Fil-A guaranteed fans that if the Gold and Blue were able to record 105 points or more they would receive a free chicken sandwich and Daniels delivered with his lone points of the contest.
Senior
Tommy Collins led all scorers with 20 points including a perfect 9-for-9 effort from the bonus line. Collins also posted five rebounds, a block, a steal and an assist.
Sophomore
Junior Arrey was 7-for-9 from the field towards 17 points. Senior
Brandon Shingles hit four from beyond the arc and marked 15 points.
Senior
Elisha Boone rounded out Tech's top offensive contributors with 13 points while posting a team-high eight boards, four assists and a steal.
The Gold and Blue shot 45.9 percent (34-for-74) from the field while the Eagles finished 45.2 percent (28-for-62). Alice Lloyd held the advantage in rebounds, 40-36.
The Golden Bears will begin a four-game road stand Thursday when they travel to Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky.
