OWENSBORO, Kentucky -- WVU Tech men's soccer, who was voted No. 21 in this week's NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll, defeated River States Conference (RSC) opponent Brescia University 6-2 Thursday evening. The Golden Bears keep a perfect record at 10-0-1, 4-0 (RSC) while the Bearcats move to 2-9, 1-3 (RSC).
Tech saw goals from four Golden Bears including two each from senior
Sergio Sanchez (18' and 62') and freshman
Luis Alejandro Jaimes (38' and 80').
Senior
Jesus Naves struck first for the Gold and Blue in the third minute of the match-up. He was assisted by fellow classmate
Alvaro Tina.
Sophomore
Antonio Fernández Castaño also posted a goal, getting the assist from senior
Manuel Garcia in the 56
th minute.
Sophomore
Wishy Laurie (18') and Castaño (38') were also credited with assists.
In goal, senior
Jorge Martinez (10-0-1) recorded two saves while allowing two goals in 90 minutes of play. Brescia's keeper Ruben Burgos Rubio made four stops and allowed six goals for the loss.
The team will continue conference road play when they head to Cincinnati Christian University tomorrow, Saturday.
