CINCINNATI, Ohio -- No. 21 WVU Tech men's soccer posted its sixth shutout in 2019 and are still undefeated after earning a 3-0 victory at Cincinnati Christian University Saturday. The Golden Bears hold a record of 11-0-1, 5-0 (RSC) while the Eagles move to 6-7, 1-3 (RSC).
The Gold and Blue saw goals from three Golden Bears including senior
Jesus Naves' tenth of the season, freshman
Luis Alejandro Jaimes' seventh career goal and Shiels third career goal.
The only assist recorded came from senior
Sergio Sanchez who has eight in 2019.
Tech's keeper, senior
Jorge Martinez (11-0-1), made two stops in 90 minutes of play while the Eagles' keeper was forced to make five saves.
The Golden Bears have four Top 25 individual rankings in the nation (NAIA) currently including Naves who is No. 8 with four winning-goals (4) and No. 11 in winning-goals per game (.330). Sanchez is No. 9 in total assists (8) and No. 12 in assists per game (.730).
As a team, Tech is No. 12 in total shutouts (6), No. 14 in shutouts per game (.500), No. 17 in goals per game (3.580), No. 18 in total goals (43), No. 19 in assists per game (2.580), No. 22 in shots on goal per game (9.750) and No. 23 in total assists (31).
WVU Tech will return home for their next three contests, beginning with University of Rio Grande October 17 in Beckley, West Virginia.
