CINCINNATI, Ohio -- WVU Tech women's soccer traveled to Cincinnati Christian University Saturday for a River States Conference (RSC) match-up, earning the victory 2-1. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 5-4, 4-1 (RSC) while the Eagles move to 4-7-1, 1-2-1 (RSC).
Tech recorded nine shots on goal including four from senior
Miriam Cortez and three from sophomore
Brittany Dye, the Gold and Blue's goal scorers.
Dye struck first for the Golden Bears, posting her score in minute 32. Cortez's winning-goal came in the second half at minute 55.
The Eagles' lone goal came quick when Kaitlynne Maldonado found the back of the net in the sixth minute.
Sophomore
Jenna Miller (5-4) protected the net, making two stops and allowing just one goal in 90 minutes of action. Cincinnati Christian's keeper was forced to make seven saves and allowed two goals.
WVU Tech will return home for their next three contests, beginning with University of Rio Grande October 17 in Beckley, West Virginia.
