No. 12 Golden Bears push winning streak to nine

Men's Soccer

BECKLEY, West Virginia -- No. 12 WVU Tech men's soccer is enjoying a nine-game winning streak after taking down Point Park University 4-3 in River States Conference (RSC) play Thursday evening. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 14-0-1, 7-0 (RSC) while the Pioneers move to 13-2, 5-1 (RSC).

Tech is holding on to the top spot in the conference standings with No. 14 Rio Grande (6-1) 1.0 games back.

The Gold and Blue had four senior goal scorers including Alvaro Tina (5'), Manuel Garcia (19'), Jesus Naves (21') and Sergio Sanchez (50').

Tech assists were posted by Sanchez, Naves, sophomore Wishy Laurie (2) and senior Gavin Shiels.

Senior Jorge Martinez (14-0-1) made two saves in 90 minutes of play while Point Park's keeper, Jesse Haak, was forced to make five stops.

Tech will return to play Saturday when they host Carlow University in more conference action.
