PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- (RV) WVU Tech men's basketball earned a 91-72 victory over Berkeley College during the Sean Elliot Memorial Classic to open up the season. The Golden Bears will next face the host school, Shawnee State University, tomorrow, Saturday in Ohio.
Junior
Junior Arrey led all scorers with 25 points while dishing out a game-high nine assists. The Blacklick, Ohio native also posted seven rebounds and six steals.
Fellow classmate
Tamon Scruggs poured in 20 points including a 9-for-10 effort from the bonus line. He also marked ten rebounds for the double-double and had three steals.
Junior
Andreas Jönsson knocked down three three-pointers and was a perfect from the foul line towards 13 points to go with two rebounds and two steals.
Freshman
Andrew Work came off the bench to contribute ten points, three rebounds and a block.
Senior
Kevin Thomas-Griffin finished with seven points, seven rebounds and a game-best four blocks.
Freshman
Darrin Martin also made a difference under the boards, grabbing five rebounds to go with six pionts and an assist.
As a team, Tech finished 27-for-62 (43.5 percent) from the field while holding their opponent to just a 23-for-64 (35.9 percent) effort.
