BECKLEY, West Virginia -- The Golden Bear volleyball squad dropped a 3-1 decision to River States Conference opponent Indiana University Kokomo in Van Meter Gym Friday evening. WVU Tech has one more match in the regular season and currently holds a record of 20-11, 9-6 (RSC) while the Cougars move to 22-11, 12-3 (RSC).
It was a conference battle that went four sets with scores of 27-29, 26-24, 20-25 and 19-25.
Senior
Konstantina Pateli led the Gold and Blue with 35 assists while recording 15 digs, five kills and two service aces.
Fellow senior
Katelyn Byrd marked a team-high 14 kills and produced 14 digs and three block solos.
Junior libero
Sawyer Hawgood picked up 20 digs to go with four assists.
Senior
Carolina Bologna finished with nine kills, six digs, three block solos, a service ace and an assist.
Freshman
Brooklyn Cook put down nine kills and had two digs while junior Ana Olea Alonso had five kills and a dig.
Junior
Michaella Guyot-Polverini posted nine digs, three assists, a service ace and kill.
Tech will host Cincinnati Christian University for Senior Day tomorrow, Saturday in Beckley. The RSC match is scheduled to begin at noon.
