WALESKA, Georgia -- WVU Tech softball opened its 2019 season Saturday at Reinhardt University, dropping two games. The Golden Bears fell in game one 9-1 before narrowly falling in the nightcap 9-8.

The Golden Bears tallied five hits including one each from
Kennedy Batchelor,
Jacey Bertalan,
Ciara Jimenez,
Ashley Daniels and
Skylar Connelly.
Pitcher
Karina Atanacio earned Tech's lone RBI while Jimenez scored the run.
Both Jimenez and Bertalan knocked doubles for the Gold and Blue.
Atanacio was given the loss in the circle after 3.1 innings of work. She struck out three batters while giving up six runs.
Rienhardt's Hayes was awarded the win after a complete game and four strike outs.
Game Two | Reinhardt 9, WVU Tech 8 | Box Score
Tech finished with 12 hits in game two including a multi-hit game from Batchelor (2) and Jimenez (3).
RBI were racked up by Batchelor,
Annika Ponton (2),
Lauren Oxford and Jimenez.
Ponton knocked Tech's first long ball, a two-run home run, of the season in the top of the fourth.
Stolen bases were credited to Jimenez, Connelly and
Kelsey Moore (2).
Taylor Dickerson took the loss after pitching 3.1 innings and striking out two batters.
Amanda McDonald also saw action in the circle, retiring one batter via strikes.
Ansley Byers of Reinhardt was awarded the win, finishing with three strike outs after throwing for 3.1 innings.
The Gold and Blue will return to action for the Blue-White Alumni Tournament hosted by Southern Wesleyan University in Central, South Carolina February 22-23.
