BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech baseball went 1-2 in a three-game River States Conference Series (RSC) against (RV) Indiana University Southeast Friday and Saturday in Beckley. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 12-16, 3-6 (RSC) while the Grenadiers move to 16-9, 6-3 (RSC).
Tech took game two 8-6 while dropping the others 7-19 and 2-5.
Patrick Burke led the way at the plate during the series, finishing 2-for-3 at the plate towards four RBI and a batting average of .667.
Dariel Torres posted five hits towards three RBI, four runs scored and two doubles.
Andrew Sharp recorded two home runs, two doubles, four total hits, four RBI and four runs scored.
Cody Hammond also knocked a home run towards three RBI, three hits and two runs scored while posting a double.
As a team, Tech hit .284 while the Grenadiers posted a batting average of .333.
The Golden Bears saw action from nine pitchers on the mound during the series, where
Calyb King was awarded the win in game two after 3.0 innings pitched and two earned runs.
Michael Rotenberry led with six strike outs after 6.1 innings of work.
Reed McNeer struck out four batters and threw for 4.0 innings.
