Golden Bears drop conference series to Brescia

BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech softball dropped two games, 10-1 (five innings) and 4-3, to Brescia University in River States Conference (RSC) action Friday. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 13-19, 5-5 (RSC) while the Bearcats move to 8-18, 4-8 (RSC).

Kayte Blandford had another successful day at the plate, finishing 4-for-6 including three RBI, a home run and a run scored.

Alexis Lopez posted two hits while Kennedy Batchelor and Skylar Connelly had one each. Lopez and Batchelor, along with Ciara Jimenez, scored a run each.

In the circle, Karina Atanacio was dealt the loss in game one after 3.2 innings pitched. She posted three strike outs.

Taylor Dickerson was given the loss in the final game of the series, throwing for 3.0 innings.

The Gold and Blue will continue RSC play tomorrow, Saturday when they host Indiana University Southeast in a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
