BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech baseball earned a River States Conference (RSC) sweep (3-0) over Ohio Christian University with scores of 14-3, 14-9 and 8-4. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 19-28, 9-15 (RSC) while the Trailblazers move to 11-30, 4-19 (RSC).
Junior
Douglas Pollock had a standout series, finishing 9-for-13 at the plate towards a batting average of .692 and slugging percentage of .846. He recorded six RBI, three runs scored and two doubles.
Fellow classmate
Dariel Torres also marked six RBI off of six hits including two doubles and a triple. Torres also crossed the plate twice.
Juniors
Robert Funk and
Cody Hammond and sophomores
Andrew Sharp,
Kent Rooklin and
Alex Tennant had four hits each.
Freshman
Jake Allen marked four RBI while Funk, Hammond and junior
Patrick Burke drove in three runs each.
Sharp and Hammond led the team, scoring seven runs a piece.
In game one, sophomore
Brett Linton earned the W on the mound after 5.2 innings of work. Linton struck out four Trailblazers.
Junior
Michael Rotenberry pitched for 6.0 innings in game two for the victory, striking out five batters.
The final contest win on the bump was awarded to sophomore
Calyb King after 5.0 innings. King retired seven batters via strikes.
