MIDWAY, Kentucky -- WVU Tech baseball earned a 7-3 River States Conference (RSC) win at Midway University Friday to begin a three-game series. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 14-24, 5-11 (RSC) while the Eagles move to 17-18, 8-8 (RSC).
Patrick Burke and
Dariel Torres posted two RBI each. Torres recorded one of the Golden Bears' home runs in the contest while
Cody Hammond also knocked a long ball.
Alex Tennant, Hammond and
Robert Funk all had a RBI.
Andrew Sharp had three hits, a double and a run scored.
On the mound,
Michael Rotenberry drew the start and pitched 6.1 innings towards the W. Rotenberry struck out seven batters while giving up just three runs.
Casey Elbin earned the save after throwing for 2.2 innings, striking out four Eagles while giving up zero hits and zero runs.
Tech will complete the series tomorrow, Saturday with a doubleheader at MIdway.
