BECKLEY, West Virginia -- (RV) WVU Tech men's soccer holds a record of 5-0-1 after finishing 1-0-1 this past weekend. The Golden Bears picked up a 1-0 victory at Indiana Tech (3-4) before ending equal with No. 19 University of Northwestern Ohio (2-1-3) 1-1 Sunday afternoon.
At Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, Indiana, senior
Allan Costa posted the game-winner for the Gold and Blue in the 55
th minute. Fellow senior
Sergio Sanchez connected with Costa for the assist.
Senior goalkeeper,
Jorge Martinez (4-0-1), stopped three attempts and allowed zero goals in the complete game.
The equalizer against the Racers came from senior
Jesus Naves who posted his fourth score in 2019. Naves was assisted by sophomoreÂ
Antonio Fernández Castaño in minute 47.
Martinez protected the goal again, giving up just one goal while making five saves in 110 minutes of play.
The Golden Bears will start River States Conference play Thursday when they host Asbury University at 7 p.m. in Beckley.
