Volleyball plays four at Lourdes Gray Wolf Invite

SYLVANIA, Ohio -- WVU Tech volleyball finished 1-3 during the Lourdes Gray Wolf Invite Friday and Saturday in Sylvania. The Golden Bears (7-5) defeated Shawnee State University 3-1 and fell to Lawrence Tech 0-3, Grace University 1-3 and the host school Lourdes University 1-3.

Senior Konstantina Pateli produced 139 assists for the Gold and Blue (9.27 per set) while recording 61 digs, 18 kills, six service aces and three block assists.

Fellow senior Katelyn Byrd led the attack, recording 40 kills and averaging 2.67 per set. Byrd also had 28 digs, five assists and five block assists.

Libero junior Sawyer Hawgood picked up 74 digs (4.93 per set) to go with 17 assists and three service aces.

Senior Carolina Bologna finished with 34 kills while classmate Emily Kidd had 26 and freshman Brooklyn Cook posted 25 kills.

Bologna also put down ten block assists while Kidd had seven and Cook had four.

Sophomore Valentina Abondano marked 36 digs, 19 kills, four service aces, four block assists and three assists.

Tech will continue tournament play when they compete in four more matches during the Concord Classic September 12-14.
