SUMMERSVILLE, West Virginia -- The WVU Tech men's basketball squad earned an 81-59 victory in River States Conference (RSC) play against Midway University Thursday evening. The Golden Bears now boast a record of 13-7, 8-1 (RSC) while the Eagles move to 11-9, 4-4 (RSC).
Junior
Andreas Jönsson finished 5-for-8 from beyond the arc to lead Tech's scorers with 15 points. The Stockholm native also pulled down six rebounds and dished two assists. He is currently ranked No. 6 in the nation (NAIA DII) in three-point field goal percentage (.505).
Freshman
Darrin Martin recorded 13 points to go with four rebounds, four assists, a block and a steal.
Senior
Kevin Thomas-Griffin marked 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and a block.
Fellow classmate
Dominik King posted ten points and had four assists, two steals, a block and a rebound.
Senior
Brent Daniels had six rebounds and five points and junior
Junior Arrey finished with nine points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Tech won the battle under the boards, 43-37 (rebounds) while forcing 16 Midway turnovers. The Golden Bears also held the Eagles to 39.7 percent shooting while finishing 45.7 percent from the floor themselves.
The team will return to the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center Saturday to host Asbury University in more conference play.
