PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania -- (RV) WVU Tech men's basketball has clinched the title of regular-season River States Conference Champions and is enjoying a nine-game winning streak after a 79-65 decision over Point Park Saturday evening. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 20-7, 14-1 (RSC) while the Pioneers move to 14-14, 6-8 (RSC).
Darrin Martin helped lead the Gold and Blue with a career-high 19 points including a perfect 6-for-6 effort from the foul line. Martin also finished with three rebounds and two assists.
Junior Arrey finished with 18 points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Tamon Scruggs also poured in 18 points while finishing with nine rebounds, two blocks and an assist.
Juvante' Hayes rounded out Tech's top offensive contributors with nine points. Hayes marked four rebounds, three assists and a steal.
The Gold and Blue finished 43.8 percent (28-for-64) from the floor while the Pioneers finished 45.8 percent (27-for-59). Tech won the rebound battle, 41-27.
The Golden Bears will finish their conference schedule Saturday, February 22 when they travel to University of Rio Grande.
