WINONA LAKE, Indiana -- (RV) WVU Tech defeated Huntington University 80-70 Friday before falling to host school (RV) Grace College 61-74 on the final day of the Hoops for Hope tournament. The Golden Bears now have a record of 3-2 this season.
Tamon Scruggs and
Gunner Short were both named to the All-Tournament team to represent the Gold and Blue.
Scruggs poured in a total of 36 points to lead Tech over two games while Short finished with 29 points. Scruggs also had 14 rebounds and seven assists.
Andrew Work had the team's best six steals to go with 20 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.
Ashton Parker recorded 16 points, nine rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block.
Thomas Hailey (13),
Juvante' Hayes (12) and
Andreas Jönsson (10) also hit double-digits in scoring after two games. Hailey pulled down eight boards while Jönsson had seven and Hailey had two rebounds.
The Golden Bears will begin River States Conference play next, facing Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Tuesday, November 16.
