BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech men's soccer, who received votes in the NAIA Coaches' Preseason Poll, earned its first victory in 2021 with a 3-2 W over St. Andrews University Wednesday evening. The Golden Bears are now 1-1 while the Knights start the season off at 0-1.
Junior
Dixie Davies recorded Tech's first goal of the game (10') while also tallying an assist and three shots on goal for the Gold and Blue.
The Gold and Blue's final score (25') of the game came from senior captain
Ruben Martin Macias. St. Andrews recorded an own goal in minute 22 towards the final 3-2 finish.
St. Andrews posted both of their goals after Tech, first from Tobias Crosarial (27') followed by a made penalty kick from Bliss Obodumu (54').
Sophomore
Lucas Rivera Paramio posted one save in 90 minutes of play while the Knights' keeper was forced to make six stops.
WVU Tech will return to the pitch Saturday when they host Trinity Christian College at Paul Cline Stadium.
