BECKLEY, West Virginia -- (RV) WVU Tech men's basketball pulled out a 79-71 victory over River States Conference (RSC) opponent Carlow University Thursday evening. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 3-2, 1-0 (RSC) while the Celtics move to 1-6, 0-1 (RSC).
Freshman
Will Hill produced a game-best 28 points including a 7-for-8 effort from three-point range. Hill also had six rebounds and three assists.
Fellow classmate
Brant Smithers came off the bench to record 17 points, five rebounds, two steals and a block.
Junior
Ashton Parker finished with a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds to go with five assists, four blocks and two steals.
Rounding out the top scorers for the Gold and Blue was redshirt sophomore
Bryce Radford who had eight points and two of each -- steals, assists and rebounds.
Tech finished at 27-for-65 (41.5 percent) shooting from the floor while the Celtics were 28-for-74 (37.8 percent). The Celtics held the slight edge under the boards, 47-46.
The team will continue conference play when they host Point Park University at Appalachian Bible College this Saturday, tipoff scheduled for 3 p.m.
