KOKOMO, Indiana -- (RV) WVU Tech men's basketball are the 2021-2022 River States Conference Championship runners-up after falling to No. 22 Indiana University Kokomo 77-67 in the title game Tuesday evening. The Golden Bears will now move onto the NAIA National Championship scheduled for March 11 with a record of 26-5 while the Cougars head to the same tournament at 29-3.
Four Golden Bears hit double-digits including a double-double effort from
Ashton Parker who finished with 12 rebounds and ten assists. Parker also posted four blocks and two steals.
Juvante' Hayes and
Andrew Work both poured in 18 points while Work had six rebounds and Hayes had three.
Keondre' King hit four from three-point range towards 12 points to go with five rebounds.
Thomas Hailey recorded six points and six boards for the Gold and Blue.
Tech was held to 35.7 percent (20-for-56) shooting from the field while the Cougars finished at 42.9 percent (24-for-56). IU Kokomo also held the edge under the boards, 38-34.
The Golden Bears will next travel to Crestview Hills, Kentucky for an opening round game of the NAIA National Championship, opponent to be announced later this week.
