OAKLAND CITY, Indiana -- WVU Tech softball earned an 8-0 shutout victory in game one before taking the final River State Conference (RSC) contest 5-4 for the series sweep. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 13-16, 2-8 (RSC) while the Mighty Oaks move to 6-16, 2-8 (RSC).
Courtney Miles helped lead at the plate, tallying four hits including a home run towards a RBI. Miles also crossed the plate twice for the Gold and Blue. In the circle, she pitched 7.0 innings, striking out 13 batters for the W in game two.
Jacey Bertalan and
Mackenzie Siersma posted three hits over two games each. Bertalan knocked a home run and had two RBI while Siersma had a double and drove in a team-high four runs.
Kay'Lee Justice and
Kelsey Huffman also had a multi-hit series, recording two each. Huffman posted a long ball and had a RBI while Justice also posted a RBI.
Gabrielle Pyles finished with two RBI and one hit for the Golden Bears.
Taylor Dickerson earned the shutout victory in the circle during game one, giving up just four hits and striking out two in 7.0 innings.
The team returns home Tuesday (March 29) when they host University of Pikeville for a doubleheader in non-conference action at Fitzpatrick Park.
