WEST PALM BEACH, Florida -- WVU Tech volleyball started the 2022 season Friday during the Chick-fil-A Classic, falling to Mayville State University (21-25, 20-25, 23-25) before earning a W over Trinity Christian (25-15, 25-12, 25-17).
Ana Muniz Rocandio led the attack with 21 kills over two matches. The junior also posted 19 digs, four assists and four blocks.
Brooklyn Cook and
Nevaeh Wooding put down 15 kills each while
Coralys Maldonado Rivera recorded 13. Wooding also had four blocks while Maldonado Rivera had three.
Julia McClanahan dished out a total of 35 assists while
Ally Morris gave 22.Â
Yukari Furuichi Blanchard had three service aces while Morris had two.
On defense,
Brooke Presley picked up 32 digs,
Emma Leach had 21 and
Valentina Abondano posted 13 digs.
The team is right back in action tomorrow, Saturday when they face Keiser University and Morningside College to finish out the Chick-fil-A Classic.
