RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- WVU Tech men's soccer defeated Saint Xavier University 2-1 during the Rio Grande Classic Saturday. The Golden Bears are now 2-0-1 in 2022 while the Cougars move to 1-2.

Juan Minguez Malonda found the back of the net first off an assist from Endjick Albert in minute five. 

Tech's second goal came from Ignacio Barriga Fernandez and the assist was credited to Miki Fujita (53').

Saint Xavier's score came from Fernando Barragan. In goal for the Cougars, Andres Zamora played the complete game and made two stops.

For the Golden Bears, Luka Felix protected the net for 90 minutes and had three saves.

The team will return to Rio Grande for the RedStorm Classic beginning September 2 when they face University of the Cumberlands.
