FAIRMONT, West Virginia -- WVU Tech women's and men's swimming traveled to NCAA DII Fairmont State University Saturday falling 110-130 and 89.50-171.50 respectively.
Guillermo Usechi was first in the 200 Free with a time of 1:51.43 while touching second in the 50 Free (22.46) and 100 Free (49.85) individually. Usechi also helped lead the 400 Medley Relay Teams of
Jose Fernando Perez,
Derek Hahn and
Aron Kristinarson to a second place showing at 3:48.93.
Samantha Adele Pepevnik was the first Golden Bear to end up on top for the women, touching at 29.47 in the 50 Back for first place. Pepevnik also finished first in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:04.95 and in the 100 Back at 1:03.76.
In the fourth event of the day
Isaac Vallance marked a time of 10:42.81 in the 1000 Free, good for a top of the podium showing. Vallance also posted a first place finish in the 500 Free at 5:16.40.
Ana Noguera garnered first place in the 50 Free at 26.54 while touching first in the 100 Free at 59.32. Noguera also helped lead the 400 Medley Relay team of Pepevnik,
Mia Wildman and
Andrea Segovia Fernandez to second place with a time of 4:42.52.
Segovia posted a time of 1:17.54 in the 100 Breast to beat all other swimmers to round out the top finishes for the Gold and Blue.
The Golden Bears will finish out the regular season when they travel to NCAA DII Salem University Friday, February 3.
