BLUEFIELD, Va. -- WVU Tech men's basketball took down Bluefield University 89-74 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon. The Golden Bears now boast a record of 7-3 while the Rams move to 4-9.
Freshman
Braden Chapman (Beaver, W.Va.) produced game-bests with 21 points and five assists, adding two rebounds and two steals.
Sophomore
Thomas Hailey (Monroe, N.C.) poured in 13 points to go with five rebounds and four assists.
Junior
Darrin Martin (Bluefield, W.Va.) came off the bench to record 12 points while sophomore
Brant Smithers (Williamstown, Ky.) also had 12 points.Â
Senior
Andrew Work finished with ten points while fellow classmate
Ashton Parker pulled down eight boards and had four points for the Gold and Blue.
WVU Tech was efficient from the floor, finishing 37-for-66 (56.1 percent) including a 19-for-31 (61.3 percent) effort in the first 20 minutes. The Rams held the slight edge under the boards, 30-28.
The Golden Bears will continue non-conference play when they host Mid-Atlantic Christian University Tuesday, December 19 at 4 p.m. in the Beckley Raleigh County Convention Center.
