Golden Bears compete at Liberty Open

Women's and Men's Track and Field

LYNCHBURG, Virginia -- WVU Tech women's and men's indoor track and field traveled to Lynchburg to compete in the Liberty Open Saturday where two Golden Bears earned new school records.

Carmen Camino Falcon surpassed her own school record in the 3000m run by eight seconds with a time of 11:02.31.  In the 800m, Falcon was one second shy from school record crossing with a time of 2:33.23.

Nathan Morton also gained a new school record, posting a time of 2:10.35 in the 800m run. The senior also competed in the 5000m run and finished eighth with a time of 15:48.38.

Taylor Sexton posted a time of 31.90 in the 200m dash and finished at 10.40 in the 60m hurdles. Madelyn Grimmett competed in the 3000m run and finished with a time of 12:50.06.

Layomi Ogunfowara ran in the 60m dash (7.58) and the 200m dash (24.11) while Samuel Whitcomb competed in the 500m dash (1:21.36) and the mile run (5:17.51).

Christian Saffouri and Ivan Martinez both ran the mile run with times of 5:12.37 and 5:13.14 respectively.

The Golden Bears will next compete in the River States Conference (RSC) Championship Saturday, February 18.
